R.A.D. is a nationally
recognized rape defense training course designed exclusively
for women who are willing to learn aggressive defense tactics
for use in situations where their lives are in jeopardy as a
result of a violent encounter.
The program, through
lecture, discussion and technique training, provides instruction
in basic self-defense through topics as awareness, risk reduction
and avoidance, and confrontation. These topics are presented
by RUPD-N officers in three separate sessions, each three hours
in duration. Also, it is recommended, but not required, that
participants also take the three-hour hands on skills practice
simulation session offered at the conclusion of the three three-hour
sessions.
