Rutgers University Police Department presents
R. A. D. (Rape Agression Defense Systems)

Rutgers University Police Department - Newark Division (RUPD-N) offers R.A.D. training free of charge as a service to the women members of the University Community -- students, faculty and staff. RUPD-N encourages all Rutgers University female faculty, staff and students to take advantage of this opportunity.

R.A.D. is a nationally recognized rape defense training course designed exclusively for women who are willing to learn aggressive defense tactics for use in situations where their lives are in jeopardy as a result of a violent encounter.

The program, through lecture, discussion and technique training, provides instruction in basic self-defense through topics as awareness, risk reduction and avoidance, and confrontation. These topics are presented by RUPD-N officers in three separate sessions, each three hours in duration. Also, it is recommended, but not required, that participants also take the three-hour hands on skills practice simulation session offered at the conclusion of the three three-hour sessions.

For more information regarding R.A.D., please visit the official website at www.RAD-SYSTEMS.com. For information about on-campus training programs and sessions call Rutgers R.A.D. Training Coordinators, Officer's Christine Weston (973-353-1366 x1), Jamie Hendrix, Lorna Peart, Vince Wilson and Dan Duran or e-mail Officer Weston at cweston@andromeda.rutgers.edu.
